Nashville’s Best Burgers, According to the Emergency Burger Review Guy

🍔 What’s Nashville’s Best Burger?

Last summer, Nashville-based private chef Chris Kahle sat in his car with a burger from Cledis and recorded his first “emergency burger review” video. On today’s podcast, he explains his methodology, ranks his top five burgers in town, and gives us great local burger options for almost any occasion. [🎧 City Cast Nashville]

🏛️ TN House Democrats Punished by Republicans

State Speaker of the House Cameron Sexton has removed all House Democrats from committees as punishment for their objections at last week’s special session remapping Tennessee’s congressional districts, including Nashville State Reps. Aftyn Behn and Justin Jones. House Minority Leader Karen Camper (D-Memphis) calls the removal “one of the most troubling abuses of power this legislature has seen in recent memory.” [Nashville Scene via Nashville Post]

🗳️ Local Dems Consider Running for Congress

Though local Democrats hope to thwart the state’s new congressional map in court, candidates have been picking up petitions to run for Congress ahead of the May 15 deadline. Nashville-area candidates who have expressed interest in running include Rep. Vincent Dixie (D-Nashville), former Mayor Megan Barry, Metro Councilmember Jacob Kupin, and consultant Darden Copeland. 🪪 Local DACA Recipients in Limbo

Tennessee Justice for Our Neighbors clients have seen their status lapse and lost work permits due to delays in DACA renewals, which they must resubmit every two years. DACA recipient Sofia founded Dreamers of Nashville to help fellow recipients connect with resources. “We should be able to have a pathway to citizenship, but unfortunately, we don’t,” explained Sofia. The Best Happy Hour Bargains in Nashville

People gather at a bar with the word Cherries on one white wall, and a busy patio in the background.

Everyone’s looking for a deal these days because, yes, stuff is expensive. But right in front of us, every single day, are some great deals on food and drink, all thanks to these two beloved words: Happy hour.

Marie and I talked about happy hours on a recent podcast episode, but we had so many good options that we didn’t have time to mention. We wanted to make sure you had them at your fingertips for the days when the heart wants to go out, but the wallet wants to stay in. Here are five more excellent happy hour deals in Nashville worth exploring.

The Best Happy Hour Deals in Nashville Right Now

Five Points Pizza

Five Points Pizza has the kind of deal that makes you think of Robert’s Western World’s recession special, but you don’t have to go downtown to nab it. Between 2-6 p.m. Monday through Friday, grab a pizza slice and a PBR or Miller High Life for just $5. Upgrade to a draft beer for $8 total.

Henley

Kristin Beringson’s Henley, inside the Kimpton Aertson Hotel, is one of the city’s most overlooked gems. Check it out between 4-6 p.m. for happy hour deals, including smoked bacon queso fries, cornbread skillet, a chef’s pick, plus $9 cocktails and wines, and $5 beers.

Cherries

Dickerson Pike’s Cherries is known for its perfectly mixed cocktails. At happy hour, you can try some of them, like the mezcal Buck Cherry for $8. House wines — including a bubbly, which is one of my favorites — are $6. You can accompany all of those with chips and guac or tacos. Happy hour at Cherries lasts way more than an hour: It’s daily until 8 p.m.

Bad Idea

East Nashville’s Bad Idea got a Michelin Sommelier Award for 2025. So if you like wine, it’s probably been on your list to try. Head over Sunday through Thursday from 5-6 p.m. for $10 select pours plus house cocktails. Happy hour is always a good idea, after all.

Maggie’s Place

Got a crew? Maggie’s Place in The Nations is family-friendly, whether you want to come with the kids, the dogs, or both. Happy hour runs from 3-7 p.m. on Mondays, and Wednesdays through Fridays. Deals include $2 off all draft beers, five mini tacos for $8, and $20 margarita pitchers.

Note that, like everything in life, deals and times are likely to change, so double-check before heading out.
