What's CITY Talking About?

👮 The Community Review Board Reacts

City Cast Nashville gets their news on today with a phenomenal interview with Nashville Community Review Board chair Alisha Haddock. If you need an explanation of the whole police corruption fiasco or want to hear from an expert, tune in. [🎧 City Cast Nashville]

👶 Abortion Ban Leads to Fewer Residencies

Last year, Tennessee saw significantly fewer medical residency applications, especially OB-GYNs and pediatricians. While all 14 states with abortion bans saw declines, TN’s is much worse. With our exploding population growth, this will likely backfire, big time. [The Tennessean]

  • On a personal note, the OB-GYN who delivered my daughter has decided to drop the OB part of her job. This study doesn’t account for doctors who’ve decided to leave the profession or no longer deliver babies.

🎶 A Cool New Record Label

Nashville has a new record label, and we’re pretty excited about it. Black Opry Records is a partnership between the Black Opry artist collective and Thirty Tigers, and Jett Holden is their first signed artist. His debut album will be out in October. [Music Row]

🏗️ Global Mall Plans

Metro Nashville Planning Department has released plans for developing that abandoned mall we own, and they’re pretty awesome. They include a WeGo transit hub, an arts center, child care, and much more. If you don’t want to read through the 171-page plan document, check out the executive summary. Locals can give feedback on the plans until July 25. [Nashville.gov]
