🎆 Your Guide to Nashville in July
July 1, 2024 · – Margaret Kingsbury
Happy Monday, y’all! I hope everyone had a delightful weekend. One quick announcement before I jump into the news: Starting today, curbside trash and recycling pickup will be at 6 a.m. instead of 7 a.m. So get those carts to the curb in the evening.
Thanks to our exclusive launch sponsor Tecovas, our Western wear faves, for their support.

♨️ Keepin’ Busy in July
Where are the best places to celebrate the Fourth in Nashville? Which type of firework is best? (Clearly, it’s the dragon one from ‘The Fellowship of the Ring.’) Who will win the hot versus cold battle? We discuss all this and more in today’s City Cast Nashville podcast episode, my podcast debut! [🎧 City Cast Nashville]

🌳 Nashville in All Its Treed Glory
Despite all our recent development, Nashville possibly has more tree canopy than any other U.S. urban area, with 53-56% of the city being forested. However, the tree canopy is not evenly dispersed: Rural and suburban areas along with the city’s western edge have the majority. [WPLN]
🏅Local Discus-Throwing Champ Joins Olympics
Another local joins the U.S. Olympic team: Vanderbilt's Veronica Fraley’s discus skills clinched her a place in the 2024 Paris Olympics. Congrats Veronica! [The Tennessean]
