🍽️ Cookin’ up community in Nashville

August 14, 2024 · – Margaret Kingsbury

Good mornin’, and happy Wednesday! How are all the parental figures feeling about kids returning to school? I took a walk alone this morning, and I gotta say, it was nice. Yet, I always get a bit teary and nostalgic about another school year. Time’s a trickster.

What's CITY Talking About?

On the left, a silhouette of Nashville in yellow and white. On the right, a pod player that says: Taking Up Space Through Music and Activism.

🎵 Cookin’ Up Good Music

For songwriter and producer Alex Wong, his passions for cooking and music are entwined. He explains this connection on today’s episode of the City Cast Nashville podcast. [🎧 City Cast Nashville]

Where Is It?

It’s time for our weekly photo challenge, where I show you a cool place around Nashville, and you try to guess where it is.

Last week’s challenge and winner:

A statue of a mail lion with its front paws on a ball. It's surrounded by greenery and a stone wall.
Tiger Lion wants to play ball! (Margaret Kingsbury / City Cast Nashville)

Thanks to Kathryn Campbell for pointing out that this is a lion, not a tiger as I stated last week. This statue is at the Nashville Zoo’s tiger exhibit, so I assumed that, despite the mane, it’s a tiger. I was wrong; it’s a lion! 🦁 And no, there are no lions at the zoo!

I’m giving a virtual trophy to everyone who correctly guessed the statue’s location: Deb Varallo, Dominique Marlow, and Joy Mariano. 🏆

Now onto this week’s challenge:

A very tall radio tower against a bright blue sky with fluffy white clouds. Trees and a green grassy field below.

This one might be a little bit trickier. Do you know where this historic radio tower is? Reply to this email or click the button below to tell me!

Enjoy your Wednesday! Before I go, thousands of formula cans sold at CVS have been recalled. If you’ve bought formula there since February, double check to see if it’s been recalled before using it.
