Where Is It?

It’s time for our weekly photo challenge, where I show you a cool place around Nashville, and you try to guess where it is.

Last week’s challenge and winner:

A large stone with a plaque dedicated to fallen soldiers in WWI.
A lovely memorial to fallen soldiers. (Margaret Kingsbury / City Cast Nashville)

This WWI memorial to the fallen soldiers of the First Tennessee Infantry is located at the Belle Meade entrance of Percy Warner Park, at the stairs. Congrats to Deb Varallo and Katie Sue Buchholtz for correctly guessing the location! 🏆 May your day be full of peace and calm.

Here’s the poem on the memorial:

“To the men of the First Tennessee Infantry who sleep in honored glory

The muffled drum’s sad roll has beat

The soldier’s last tattoo,

No more on life’s parade shall meet

That brave and fallen few.

On fame’s eternal camping ground

Their silent tents are spread.

And glory guards, with solemn round,

The bivouac of the dead,

Nor shall your story be forgot

While fame her record keeps,

Or honor points the hallowed spot

Where valor proudly sleeps.

Nor wreck, nor change, nor winter’s blight,

Nor time’s remorseless doom,

Shall dim one ray of Glory’s light

That gilds your deathless tomb.

On this field, April 25, 1917, the First Tennessee Infantry, recently recalled from the Rio Grande, mobilized for service with the American Expeditionary Forces in France. The regiment was assigned to the thirtieth division and participated in the battles of Ypres, Bellicourt, St. Quentin, Troyon, St. Mihiel, and the Argonne.”

Now onto this week’s challenge:
