January 21, 2025 · 💌 Margaret Kingsbury

Happy Tuesday! I hope y’all are staying warm 🥶 If you have kids who have outgrown their winter coats, consider dropping them off at a local MNPS school, where Unicycle will give them to students in need.

What's CITY Talking About?

✈️ Proposal To Rename BNA

Rep. Todd Warner has filed legislation to rename Nashville International Airport to Trump International Airport. Two years ago, state Republicans attempted to take over the Airport Authority Board, resulting in months of legal battles and Nashville retaining its control of the board. [WPLN]

Perfectly Fine

In the heart of The Nations, Perfectly Fine may just be Nashville’s best new bar. You’ll find craft cocktails — like the refreshing Whiskey Drink made with bourbon, pear, and lemon — plus local craft beers, classic beer-and-shot combos, and non-alcoholic options. It’s also a great place to grab lunch or a late-night bite, with elevated comfort food favorites like mojo pork lettuce wraps, pan-seared pierogies, and the hot chicken bacon creole ranch wrap with fries. Inside, it’s all about cozy charm: Plush booths, vintage touches, a free-to-play pool table, and a heated patio that’s perfect year-round.

Dos Santos

Now open in Wedgewood-Houston, the family-owned and operated taqueria Dos Santos draws inspiration from brothers Jason and Kris Wallenta’s Mexico City roots and childhood spent in their uncle’s restaurant kitchens. Don’t miss the eskites (Mexican street corn), crunchy beef tacos, or grilled shrimp tacos — all perfectly balanced flavors where authenticity meets sophistication. You can also find agave-forward cocktails, like the carajillo or paloma, on the menu, plus breakfast burritos for the early risers.

Alebrije

Here’s another restaurant that pulls from the chef’s Mexico City roots! Chef Edgar Victoria began Alebrije as a local pop-up before expanding into food trucks and a concession stand. Now he’s opening a brick-and-mortar restaurant next to Coral Club in East Nashville. With just 35 seats, this intimate space offers a high-end casual take on Mexican cuisine. The new spot features breakfast carryout (think coffee, tacos, tamales, and chilaquiles), a dine-in lunch, and a curated menu for Coral Club guests. Expect Oaxacan-sourced corn and dishes like tlayuda, mole, and elote, all crafted with a modern twist.

Pizza Lolo

Speaking of the Coral Club, Pizza Lolo’s new residency turns the club into Nashville’s go-to pizza spot every Wednesday evening. From handcrafted Neapolitan pies to classic Margherita pizzas and indulgent roasted garlic cream pizzas, there’s something for everyone here. The dough — a blend of three flours, and cold-fermented for extra flavor and crunch — creates a crisp, chewy, and utterly irresistible pie. Pair your slice with Coral Club’s wine specials or a cocktail for the ultimate midweek pick-me-up.
