What's CITY Talking About?

🏞️ Inside Radnor Lake’s Expansion
Radnor Lake State Park has so much happening right now: A baby eagle is about to take flight, trails are being renovated to make them accessible for everyone, and the park is being expanded to include more butterfly-friendly grassland. On today’s City Cast Nashville podcast, Park Manager Steve Ward takes us inside the spectacular 1,400-acre natural area that’s right outside our back doors. [🎧 City Cast Nashville]

🎆 Fireworks Show Displaces Unhoused Community
Metro officials are scrambling to close a homeless encampment along the Cumberland River ahead of our Fourth of July fireworks show. It’s uncertain whether the camp’s 50-60 unhoused residents will be relocated permanently or allowed to return after the holiday. The area might be sprayed with flame-retardant chemicals, which would make it unsafe for people to return. [Nashville Banner]
- The Office of Homeless Services has been criticized for its handling of the Old Tent City encampment’s closure. [🎧 City Cast Nashville]
🚗 Understaffed Police Struggle To Investigate Hit-and-Runs
Only two full-time Metro Nashville Police Department detectives investigate the nearly 8,000 hit-and-run accidents that happen in Nashville every year, with just .5% leading to an arrest. Police say additional staff and license plate readers would help with their investigations. [Nashville Banner]
📰 ICE Detains Couples Interviewing for Citizenship
