What's CITY Talking About?

🏙️ “Hostile Architecture” Comes to Downtown
On today’s City Cast Nashville podcast, we’re going downtown for a look at the newly-expanded Central Business Improvement District and how private security and “hostile architecture” are impacting our unhoused community, cyclists, and everyone else who ventures through. [🎧 City Cast Nashville]
📚 Library Closure Impacts Unhoused Nashvillians
Unhoused Nashvillians are struggling months after the downtown library branch closed due to its garage catching fire. Many rely on the library for computer access to find jobs and resources, and for its air conditioning, especially during our record-breaking heat this summer. The library is waiting for an independent safety verification from a third party before reopening. [Nashville Banner]
🛣️ Conflicting Visions of the East Bank
Advocates for a more walkable and bikeable Nashville have joined together to create a plan for the East Bank Boulevard that includes a large green promenade in the middle of a two-lane road with a carousel. However, a current proposal has the road as a major six-lane highway. Mayor O’Connell says Metro is still weighing the options. [WPLN]

🤠 Our Male-Revue Scene
Nashville’s male-revue businesses are establishing themselves as part of the essential downtown scene for bachelorettes, but it’s not always easy to get people to take them seriously as a business. [Nashville Scene]
