Good mornin’! Congrats to the Tennessee Titans, who won their first game of the season yesterday, beating the Arizona Cardinals in a crazy comeback, 22-21.

What's CITY Talking About?

🏘️ Debating Housing Density
As our city wrestles with a housing crisis, what happens when councilmembers and constituents clash over solutions? On today’s City Cast Nashville podcast, we hear from Councilmember Rollin Horton, who recently upzoned The Nations, and a District 16 resident whose advocacy group is concerned about the changes that come with rezoning. [🎧 City Cast Nashville]
- District 16 Councilmember Ginny Welsh recently proposed zoning changes to the neighborhoods she represents, which many constituents opposed. [🎧 City Cast Nashville]
🏫 Vanderbilt Invited To Participate in Compact
Vanderbilt University is one of nine colleges invited by the White House to participate in a compact that asks them to ban hiring and admissions based on race, sex, and political views, and end programs that belittle conservative ideas, among other stipulations. Universities that sign the compact will be given a “competitive advantage” for federal grants. [The Tennessean]
🗳️ Who Is Threatening Tennessee Voters?
Some local voters have received a mailer claiming the Tennessee Republican Party will notice if someone fails to vote in the TN-07 special election, and that they are compiling a list of non-voters. Tennessee Republican Party chairman Scott Golden says they didn’t send those postcards, and don’t track who votes. The mailers have an Austin, TX postmark. [WKRN]
- GOP Rep. Lee Reeves dropped out of the race on Friday after President Trump endorsed Matt Van Epps. [Tennessee Lookout]
- Tuesday, Oct. 7 is the last day to vote in the primary. [📰 Hey Nashville]
