💸 Local Business Owners Resist Tax Increase
The Nashville Property Tax Coalition, a group of local business owners, formed in response to an increase in their property tax bills, the result of a 45% median increase in values. The coalition is asking that commercial property owners who have filed an appeal be allowed to pay the same amount in taxes as last year until their appeal can be considered, among other requests. ✈️ New Bill To Take Over Airport Board, Again
Republican state lawmakers are once again trying to take over the Metro Nashville Airport Authority board. Instead of focusing on Nashville specifically, the newly proposed bill would apply to all state airport boards. The bill would allow cities to appoint three of nine board members, with state lawmakers choosing the rest. [Nashville Scene]
