🏫 PTA Advocates for Integrated Pre-K

Thanks to the Inglewood Elementary School PTA, pre-K classes in all Metro Nashville Public Schools will now be economically integrated. Previously, pre-K students were separated based on income and who qualified for state funding. However, this had the unintended consequence of racially segregating the classrooms at Inglewood. The school’s PTA advocated for integrated classrooms, and after receiving permission from the Tennessee Department of Education, MNPS will now combine students from all incomes in pre-K. 🪧 Local Senator Penalized for Protesting

State Sen. Charlane Oliver (D-Nashville) is being further penalized by the Tennessee General Assembly for protesting during the special session to redraw the state’s congressional maps. In a letter to Oliver, Lt. Gov. Randy McNally wrote that her per diem pay would be limited, and she would be reassigned to a different committee as punishment. [WKRN]

⚡ NES To Bury Lines in These Neighborhoods

As part of a pilot program, Nashville Electric Service will bury power lines on select roads in Old Hickory, Cane Ridge, Thompson Lane, and Charlotte Park. NES will begin burying the lines this summer, and is expected to complete the project by July 2027. [WSMV]
