🏙️ What We Know About Nashville’s Enslaved People

Here's a piece of history you probably didn't learn in school: The city of Nashville once owned enslaved people. On today’s podcast, historian and author Betsy Phillips joins us to share their stories and discuss how our city is beginning to recognize their contributions and honor their legacy. 🏛️ Will These Data Center Bills Be Passed?

Last week, the Metro Planning Commission voted to recommend two proposed data center bills currently being considered by Nashville’s Metro Council. The first bill, proposed by Councilmember Rollin Horton, establishes data center zoning regulations. The second, proposed by CM Courtney Johnston, places a temporary moratorium on data center construction. Both bills are being considered for a second reading at the July 7 Metro Council meeting, which is open for public comment. [Nashville Banner]

🚌 All-Access Corridor Coming to Nolensville Pike

Nolensville Pike is one step closer to becoming an All-Access Corridor through Nashville’s Choose How You Move initiative. Metro has chosen HDR to lead planning and project development on the corridor, which will include public transit-only lanes where feasible, modernized signals, new and upgraded sidewalks, safer pedestrian crossings, and bikeway connections. 🎭 Making Theater More Accessible

Thanks to TPAC’s Arts Access program, 20 kids from the nonprofit 100 Black Men of Middle Tennessee were able to attend a sold-out performance of “Hamilton” last week. “Not everybody can afford a $200 ticket, and everybody deserves to see ‘Hamilton’ once in their life,” said Diana Pelham, vice president of leadership giving at TPAC.
