🚕 Are driverless Teslas coming to Nashville?!

August 13, 2026 · 💌 Margaret Kingsbury

Happy Thursday! We all know about our Waymos, but now driverless Tesla Cybercabs have been spotted in Nashville?! They look about as hideous as you would expect …

But you know what’s not hideous? This pennant. You should nab one while supplies last AND support the newsletter by becoming a City Cast Nashville Neighbor today! It’s only $10 a month or $100 a year, and you’ll get some snazzy exclusive perks. Thanks to Phil Z. for becoming our newest Neighbor!

A yellow pennant that says, "I live here on purpose. Nashville City Cast" in black letters. It hangs from a wall surrounded by other Nashville memorabilia: A record that says Best of Nashville, a Nashville Predators poster, and a Nashville SC flag.
We kinda love Nashville, if you can’t tell. (Whitney Pastorek / City Cast Nashville)

The lawsuit claims the city acted illegally by passing zoning regulations and a temporary moratorium on new data centers. The lawsuit also lists public comments from Mayor Freddie O’Connell and Councilmember Courtney Johnston as evidence that these bills were a targeted attack against DC BLOX. [Nashville Banner]

🕌 Local Mosque Targeted by Hateful Messaging

Last Thursday, the Islamic Center of Nashville was targeted by hate speech when a box truck bearing anti-Muslim messaging parked outside the mosque. Right-wing activist Jake Lang engaged in anti-Muslim rhetoric outside, and the mosque received threatening calls. In response, the center, which has served Nashville since 1978, is strengthening security, and the American Muslim Advisory Council has warned other local mosques of the potential threat.
