♥️ Who Else Won Best of Nashville?

We’re celebrating our Best Podcast win and saying “hell yeah” to some of our favorite local Best of Nashville winners on today’s Friday News Roundup. Plus, we have updates on Davidson County Sheriff Daron Hall’s retirement announcement, the data center moratorium that’s holding up in court (for now), and why Metro Council keeps delaying a bill to restrict right turns on red. ⚡ Data Center Lawsuit Dismissed

A federal judge has dismissed the lawsuit filed by DC BLOX against the Metro government after the data center moratorium stalled its attempt to build a facility next to the Nashville Zoo. The developer’s request for an injunction to stop the moratorium was also tossed by U.S. District Court Judge Eli Richardson, who wrote that although DC BLOX may believe it got a “raw deal,” “a raw deal … does not a federal lawsuit make.” The data center developer could still file an amended complaint. ✈️ Communities Sue FAA Over Flight Noise

Course Correct Nashville, a group of community members from Crieve Hall, Oak Hill, and other nearby areas, has filed a lawsuit against the Federal Aviation Administration due to a 2024 change to flight paths out of Nashville International Airport. According to the group’s analysis of publicly-available data, approximately half of all southbound flights from BNA now pass over their neighborhoods, generating decibel levels far exceeding what was predicted by an environmental noise study. 🚨 Armed Man Killed at Federal Courthouse

The Metro Nashville Police Department says an unidentified man from out of state was shot and killed Thursday morning after he entered the federal courthouse downtown and attempted to fire a gun, which did not discharge. Police say he then pulled out a knife before being killed by someone with the U.S. Marshal Service. The downtown library was evacuated as a precaution. [NewsChannel 5]

Furball Friday

It’s October, and this black cat knows it’s her time to shine. Tiara is a Maine Coon who hails all the way from Switzerland! She moved to L.A. with her loyal subjects in 2019, and then to Rochester, NY; now, she’s adjusting to her new life in Nashville, where she is cohabitating with two dog siblings. Best of luck to all 👀

Do you have a furball in your life? Send us their picture to be featured in a future edition of this newsletter. Note: Fur not required, we wanna see your scaly/spiky/slimy pals, too!

What To Do

Friday, Oct. 9

Saturday, Oct. 10

Sunday, Oct. 11

TGIF! We’ll be back in your inbox on Tuesday, as we’re taking Monday off to observe Indigenous Peoples’ Day. And speaking of Nashville’s best: Sunday would have been Todd Snider’s 60th birthday, so East Nashville is celebrating the late singer-songwriter with a block party on 11th Street in Five Points, which they’ll temporarily rename in his honor. Y’all play a train song for me 🚂
